LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said one person has been arrested in connection to the death of a child Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened about 3 p.m. at the Siegel Suites in the 4800 block of Boulder Highway, near Flamingo Road.

According to Lt. Dan McGrath. of Metro, a seven-year-old  boy was transported to Sunrise Hospital with trauma to his body. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Citing the preliminary investigation, McGrath said the call to dispatchers originated as a medical call, but emergency personnel said the death did not appear to be natural. There were reports the child had ligature marks, McGrath said.

Four other children, all under the age of eight, and two adults, including the child's mother, were inside the apartment at the time the incident happened, McGrath said. Child Protective Services will take custody of the four children.

Police arrested 31-year-old Kenneth Robinson in connection to the incident. Police said the investigation led detectives to believe Robinson was responsible for the child's injuries. Robinson was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of open murder. Via social media, a family member identified the mother as  Roshoun Thick. A Go Fund Me page identified the little boy as Masje and describes him as full of life and laughter.

Robinson is not related to the boy, police said. The seven-year-old lived in the same apartment with his mother, Robinson and his girlfriend, and other children. Detectives said they are interviewing the boy's mother and will later determine if an additional arrest will be made.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will later release the identity and cause of death of the victim.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Metro's homicide section at 702-828-3521 or by email. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
