LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said they are investigating a house party that turned into a homicide scene overnight in the northwest part of town.

Officers were called to the 5700 block of Auborn Avenue, near Smoke Ranch Road and Jones Boulevard, just after 2 a.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting.

Police said a fight broke out during a house party that led to one of the attendees pulling out a gun and shooting another person at the same gathering.

Camila Valencia lives next door with her family and woke up to screams.

"We just saw a lot of screaming and then saw a lot of shots go off," Valencia said. "I woke up and I heard my mom crying and calling 911 because everybody else was screaming outside."

The altercation was between two men, according to police, with the suspected shooter leaving in a vehicle from the scene after shooting the victim multiple times.

Authorities said the armed man was last seen heading eastbound on Auborn Ave. and the person shot at the party died at the scene.

The party had at least 20 people in attendance and detectives are asking for those at the party to come forward with any information known, as many left following the shooting.

Anyone with further information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

This incident marked the 144th homicide investigated by Metro in 2016.
