With more than half of the early voting period completed, voters are still turning out at Las Vegas polling locations in record numbers.

From first time voters to seasoned voters this election season is bringing out the masses.

“It’s always exciting for me to come back and cast my vote and kind of make my voice heard,” said voter Michael Tanner.

According to Dan Kulin, public information officer for Clark County, by 4 p.m. Saturday nearly 24,000 people hit the polls.

The statistics are a sign that more people are realizing the importance of their voice.

“At first, I was kind of like, oh, voting doesn’t matter. Like, I don’t matter, but then the more and more I read about it I was like, of I should probably vote,” a first time voter said.

“To me if you don’t vote you can’t say anything,” a voter said.

“I feel like I’m trying to contribute to the furtherance of our community both locally and nationally. Where do we want the delegate to go? Where do we want our nation to go,” Tanner said.

Despite where voters want the nation to go, voters said there are a few things they can all agree on with the candidates.

“I feel like these two presidential candidates have really brought up like a lot of passion,” a first time voter said.

“Whenever there’s controversy people get excited and they get more passionate and it makes people think about the issues and why they’re important,” Tanner said.

Six days remain for early voting. The deadline to get a mail in ballot is Nov. 1 at 5 p.m.
