Man shot, killed inside Las Vegas apartment identified

Posted: Updated:

A father of two was shot and killed in his apartment near Boulder Highway and Tropicana early Friday morning.

Neighbors identified the victim as a man named Jay and said the family never caused any problems.

"The whole family is spectacular," said Nathan Sinclair, who lives next door to the family. "They're very nice and generous people. I have no idea who could do something so horrific to someone and their family."

Sunday, the Clark County Coroner's office identified the man killed as 28-year-old Jaycee Lashaul II, from Las Vegas.

Police said Lashaul II opened his apartment door around 2 a.m., let someone inside the home, and was shot to death. He suffered a gunshot wound to the lower part of his body.

The 28-year-old was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The coroner's office confirmed Lashaul II died of a gunshot wound of the buttocks and ruled his death a homicide.

Police said no suspects are in custody at this time related to the incident.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

This marked the 143rd homicide in Metro's jurisdiction.
