LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro homicide detectives are investigating after two bodies were discovered in the west Valley Thursday afternoon.

Police said the discovery was reported about 12:39 p.m. in the area of South Hualapai Way and Peace Way, just west of Interstate 215.

According to police at the scene, the bodies belonged to a man and a woman, both of whom appeared to be in their early 20s. Police said the couple appeared to have been shot inside the residence.

Police further said there was no evidence of forced entry at the apartment home but that foul play is suspected. It additionally appeared the two had been dead for a day or so and that their deaths did not initially appear to be the result of a murder-suicide.

Police later disclosed that there may have been two men suspected in the case, but they were not immediately identified. A motive remains under investigation.

Friends and family on Thursday night held a vigil for the victims. It was there that they identified those victims to FOX5 as Sydney Land and Neo Kauffman.

The victims were in their 20s, were in a dating relationship and had been living together at the Union apartment complex for a few months.

“Neo was a great kid, very funny. He had a lot of passion. As you can see, everybody loved him. [He was a] joy to be around. He was just a joy to be around. People love to be around Neo,” said Michael Buchanan, a former coach of Kauffman’s.

“I just lover her so much and I miss her. I hope she’s up there watching over everybody and she’s safe now and in a better place. I miss her,” said Kendall Land, Sydney Land’s sister.

Friends said Sydney Land was 21 years old and Kauffman 20 years old.

The two deaths represented the 141st and 142nd homicides in Metro's jurisdiction this year. The Clark County Coroner's Office was assigned to determine the causes of couple's deaths.
