Police investigating shots fired in central Las Vegas

Las Vegas Metro police are investigating a report of shots fired in the central part of town Wednesday afternoon.

Police were alerted to the situation in the area of East Karen Avenue and South Van Patten Street about 1:27 p.m., Metro’s Officer Mike Rodriquez said.

Rodriquez did not indicate there were any victims and said the shooter or shooters had not been identified.

According to police at the scene, the gunfire may have involved between two and six people. They additionally said it may have been a gunfight, but that has not been confirmed.

Officers were speaking with witnesses. It wasn’t immediately clear if the exchange of gunfire involved gangs.
