LAS VEGAS (AP) -

The Nevada Highway Patrol released preliminary findings of the fatal shooting by a trooper of a carjacking suspect after a chase from Las Vegas to Henderson.

A Tuesday media briefing gave details about the slaying last Wednesday of 28-year-old Javier Munoz, of Glendale, AZ.

Authorities have said Munoz was shot after leading police on a chase in a car he stole from a woman at a convenience store and trying to carjack another vehicle from a man at a Cadillac dealership.

Officials say Munoz did not have a gun.

The trooper who shot Munoz was identified as David Dudley, a 17-year highway patrol veteran.

Officials say a woman was treated for minor injuries after trying to stop Munoz from stealing her black Scion near downtown Las Vegas.

Troopers chased the Scion after seeing it being driven erratically on U.S. 95.
