LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

After the first weekend of early voting in Clark County, the Democratic party outpaced its GOP rivals by nearly 18,000 registered voters.

According to Nevada Secretary of State statistics, Clark County took in a total of 70,331 in-person voters on the first Saturday and Sunday of the general election early vote period.

Of that total, 37,621 registered Democratic voters cast their ballots to the GOP's 19,824 voters. That amount to about 52 percent for Democrats and nearly 30 percent for Republicans. Voters registered to neither party accounted for the remaining 18 percent.

In addition, the Democrats held a majority of absentee and mail-in ballots in Clark County. So far, a little over 6,000 Democratic voters mailed in a ballot in the early going to the 5,200 ballots accounted to the GOP.

Through Sunday, 52,685 ballots were cast in early voting throughout Nevada. Only Washoe and Clark counties opened voting precincts to the public on Sunday. As of late Monday morning, numbers for four counties were not yet accounted in Saturday's voting action.

Over the weekend, Clark County reported the 39,331 early-voting ballots cast on Saturday was a record for first-day voting in the county.

Early voting will continue to be offered through Nov. 4.
