The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 15 Saturday evening that left one person dead and another injured, and now troopers are asking for the public's help.

NHP Trooper Jason Buratczuk said a single vehicle, occupied by two people, hit the center median on I-15 northbound at Sunset Road. On Monday, troopers told FOX5 the victim's car was sideswiped, sending it spinning across the interstate and into the median.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the passenger was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition, according to NHP.

The driver was identified as 46-year-old Bobby Carter Pierce, from Henderson, by the Clark County Coroner's Office Sunday afternoon.

"He was a wonderful friend, more than that a wonderful husband and father to his two teenage children," family friend Frank Hall said.

The passenger was Pierce's wife, Jennifer, according to Hall, and NHP said she was transported to the hospital in serious condition. On Monday, University Medical Center told FOX5 she was upgraded to fair condition.

Buratczuk said the victim was traveling in a gray Toyota Camry.

No suspect vehicle information was released at the time of the crash, but there was white paint residue found on the Camry, according to troopers. On Monday, NHP said the suspect vehicle was a van that was tan or off-white, but did not have a better description. They are asking anybody who was near the crash and may have seen the hit and run to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

"We know there's got to be dozens if not hundreds of vehicles just in that area of the roadway, commuting through that busy section of the I-15 at that time," NHP Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. "We need your help, the family needs justice, and this investigation needs to be closed, so we urge people to call."

"Turn them in right away. This is not the type of person that you want on the streets," Hall said.

NHP had northbound traffic on I-15 closed near Sunset for the investigation.
