HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroners Office released the identity of a man who was shot and killed by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper after an attempted carjacking in Henderson.

Javier Munoz, of Phoenix, Arizona, died from a gunshot wound of the abdomen. He was 28-years-old.

A 17-year veteran of Nevada Highway Patrol was identified as the trooper who shot and killed Munoz.

Trooper David Dudley was among the NHP personnel who responded to the attempted carjacking on Wednesday near Gibson Road and Auto Show Drive.

According to NHP, the man shot and killed by Dudley was suspected in a carjacking in the area of Fremont Street before driving erratically on Interstate 515. The same person attempted to steal another vehicle in Henderson before the shooting.

The wounded person was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he later died. His identity remained pending Friday.

NHP scheduled a media briefing to discuss details of the trooper-involved shooting on Tuesday.
