LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Why wait? That’s the message from the Clark County Election Department.

Many people in Clark County now choose to vote early rather than brave the crowds on Election Day.

The early voting period this year starts Oct. 22 and concludes Nov. 4.

Sunday, Clark County updated the numbers that more than 39,300 voters cast their ballots on the first day of early voting.

This number was a record turnout according to the county on Saturday, surpassing the previous record of 33,182 set for the general election in 2012.

A number of early voting locations are open throughout the Las Vegas Valley. As long as you’re registered to vote in Clark County, you may vote early at any site in the county.

Many sites are located at convenient shopping centers. For instance, the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson is again an early voting location. During the last presidential election, more than 40,000 people voted there.
