Man shot by NHP during carjacking attempt dies

HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

A person who Nevada Highway Patrol shot Wednesday in a carjacking case died in the hospital.

According to NHP, the person who was wounded in the trooper-involved shooting succumbed to his injuries late Thursday morning.

NHP said the incident happened near Gibson Road and Auto Show Drive. A person carjacked a driver from a Scion-model vehicle on Fremont Street then drove erratically on U.S. Highway 95. The person attempted to steal a second vehicle near Gibson Road and Auto Show Drive, where he was shot in the torso by troopers. 

The person was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he died. The Clark County Coroner's Office was assigned to identify the person.
