LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Following the sale of the Ultimate Fighting Championship back in July, the Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts company on Tuesday announced a round of layoffs.

According to Paige Berger, with UFC public relations, the layoffs are to take effect Tuesday and affect less than 15 percent of the staff. Berger said that out of respect for those involved, no more information would be provided.

In July, the UFC was sold to talent management company WME-IMG for $4 billion.

The deal was record-setting, and ownership pledged to keep operations in Las Vegas.
