RENO, NV (AP) -

Nevada's high school graduation rate continues to rank among the worst in the nation.

The latest figures released by the U.S. Education Department show 71.3 percent of Nevada's high school students graduated at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

That's up from 70 percent at the end of 2014, and about 9 percent better than the 62 percent rate recorded at the end of 2011.

But it still ranks third worst in the nation, trailing only New Mexico and the District of Columbia. They both had about 68.5 percent.

The national average is 83.2 percent. Iowa topped the list with 90.8 percent.
