LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Despite October being a typical month to see declining gas prices, fuel prices remained the same in Las Vegas over the past week, according to GasBuddy.

"October is a time we all expect gas prices to decline, but this month has proven to be an exception with the national average still a few cents higher than where it was on Oct. 1 at $2.22,” said Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.

The average cost of gasoline in the Valley was $2.45 per gallon Sunday, GasBuddy reported. The national average dropped to $2.23.

GasBuddy reported that prices in Las Vegas were 46 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 0.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average increased 3 cents per gallon in the past month and stands 3.4 cents per gallon lower than the same time last year.

Citing historical data, GasBuddy said prices have varied greatly over the last five years in Las Vegas. The price of gasoline in 2015 was $2.91 per gallon compared to 2011 when it was $3.58 per gallon.

Gas in nearby Riverside was $2.74 per gallon and was $2.75 per gallon. Both California cities saw a drop in price compared to the week before.
