NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

North Las Vegas police on Friday night reported they were on the scene of a fatal vehicle accident.

The incident was reported just after 9 p.m. in the 2600 block of Stanley Avenue, near the intersection of Civic Center Drive and East Owens Avenue.

About 10 p.m., the North Las Vegas Police Department's Officer Aaron Patty said the person killed was a 10-year-old boy. A family friend told FOX5 the boy is Louie Lopez.

Patty said Lopez was inside a Chevrolet minivan that was traveling eastbound on Stanley Avenue from Civic Center Drive with multiple juveniles on board. Citing witnesses, Patty said while the van was moving, the side sliding door was opened and Lopez fell in the roadway.

Medical personnel pronounced Lopez dead at the scene.

The 34-year-old driver and the other children in the van were not injured, Patty said.

Patty said speed has not yet been determined and added it is an ongoing investigation. He said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

No arrests have been made, Patty said.

A Go Fund Me was created to assist the family with funeral costs. If you would like to donate, you can follow this link.
