LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police on Friday reported a man who was babysitting an 18-month-old girl was arrested following her death Thursday.

About 3:12 p.m. Thursday, police responded to an apartment complex located in the 800 block of Sierra Vista Drive, near Swenson Street, following a call about an unresponsive baby.

The child, identified by family as Lyriq Elaine Clayton, was taken to Sunrise Children’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Medical staff reported her injuries were consistent with abuse.

Police said the Clayton received severe burns and bruising to parts of her body.

Metro detectives identified the Clayton's babysitter, 21-year-old Demond Billingsley, as the suspect. He was arrested without incident and booked into Clark County Detention Center.

Billingsley faces a charge of murder by child abuse.

Anyone with additional information was urged to contact Metro’s Abuse and Neglect Section at 702-828-3364. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

A Go Fund Me was created to assist with funeral costs. A link to the page can be found here
