LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Officers involved in a deadly shooting that shutdown northbound traffic on the 215 Beltway late Wednesday night have been identified.

Police said officers were aware of a vehicle description related to a string of robberies in the Las Vegas and Henderson areas. Officers noticed a vehicle that matched the description and attempted to pull it over near Wyoming Avenue and Commerce Street at 11:15 p.m. The suspect did not stop for officers and a chase ensued.

The chase ended on the 215 Beltway between Hualapai Way and Fort Apache Road, a man inside the vehicle confronted officers with a handgun. Officers fired at the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No officers were injured.

Sunday, the LVMPD identified the officers involved in the shooting as Officers John Squeo, Christopher Gowens, Travis Swartz and Erik Lindberg.

Officer Squeo, 25, and Officer Gowens, 39, have been employed by Metro since March of 2014.

Officer Swartz, 30, has been with Metro since February 2008 and Officer Lindberg, 33, with Metro since February of 2014.

The officers listed have been assigned to the tourist safety division downtown and placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of the event according to Metro.

Police had the north beltway of Interstate 215 between Hualapai Way and Durango Drive closed during the original incident in both directions.

This was the seventh officer-involved shooting this year, according to police.
