NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

A 13-year-old freshman student’s mother has allowed FOX5 to publish video showing her daughter getting body slammed to the ground by a school administrator before classes started for the day Wednesday at Canyon Springs High School in North Las Vegas.

The video shows a verbal altercation before an officer and administrator stepped in to break it up. The administrator grabs onto a girl and throws her to the ground. Then he tries to restrain her by using his body weight on top of her.

Lucenda Randle, the mother of that girl, said a fight never even broke out until the administrator started acting violently. She’s now planning to sue the school district and is calling for the administrator to lose his job.

“She is not no animal. She is my child,” said Randle. “She was thrown like a rug rat, then he got on top of her and laid there and pressed her face after it already hit the concrete.”

Randle said her daughter was diagnosed the next day with a concussion, a sprained shoulder, and a strained back. She sent FOX5 paperwork from an emergency room doctor in addition to pictures, showing cuts to her daughter's face.

“That's not the way you do things,” she said. “(An administrator is) somebody the kids at the school look up to, somebody that the kids at the school should be able to run to, to talk to, to explain things to.”

The mother said the fight happened before school started, around 7 a.m. She said she wasn’t notified until about 10 a.m., and the school did not tell her that the administrator was involved.

Several other children, who claim they were just trying to break up the fight, also said they were suspended.

The Clark County School District and Clark County Police Department have declined our requests for an interview or statement. They have refused to confirm the name of the administrator. It's unclear if he is still at work.

Students who saw the video on Facebook said they were shocked by it, especially because they claim there aren’t fights like this on campus very often. Many of them said the administrator went too far and should have let the officer on campus handle it instead.

“It's just two girls fighting. I didn't think it would get out of hand like that,” said one student, who witnessed the whole thing. “The dean came out of nowhere. I didn't even know he was down there, and he just slammed her.”

“I think they're showing the kids a bad example because he didn't have to do all that. He really didn't,” said another student. “That's horrible man… He put his hands on a woman like that? I still don’t understand that.”
