'Rock of Ages' coming to a close

Posted: Updated:

Sin City's biggest rock musical, Rock of Ages is officially coming to an end on Jan. 1, 2017.

Rock of Ages has been a great addition at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, alongside some of the most popular entertainment in Las Vegas," said Steve Ellis, general manager of Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. "We are very proud to have been part of its rockin’ Las Vegas run.”

The closure comes just less than a year after the musical closed after a 3-year run at The Venetian. It found a new home at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in January, so the news of it's closure may come to a shock to some. No specific reason has been given for the closure.

Rock of Ages is set in Los Angeles' infamous Sunset Strip in 1987 and tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. It includes some of the biggest rock songs of the 80's including "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" and "Don't Stop Believin."

Rock of Ages runs Tuesdays through Sundays at 8 p.m. through Jan. 1, 2017.  Tickets for the remaining performances can be purchased here or call (702) 777-2782.
