CARSON CITY, NV (FOX5) -

The Nevada Senate on Tuesday evening passed Senate Bill 1, which calls for an increase in the hotel room tax in order to partially fund the proposed Las Vegas NFL stadium.

Funds will also go to the expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

FOX5’s Kevin Bolinger, who is at the special session of the Nevada Legislature in Carson City, said the bill passed 16-5, which exceeded the two-thirds majority needed.

This is not a done deal, however. The bill will now move on to the Nevada Assembly.
