HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

An armed carjacking outside of a Henderson home was caught on a home security camera, and now the victim is asking the community to help catch the person responsible.

The crime happened about 7:30 p.m. Monday in a neighborhood located near the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Valle Verde Drive.

The victim told FOX5 she had just returned home and pulled into her driveway when a man crossed the street, pointed a gun at her face and asked her, "Do you value your life?"

She briefly fought back against the carjacker, and in the video you can see her running and trying to tackle him. She told FOX5 on Tuesday that in hindsight, she doesn't think that was a good idea, but in the moment she didn't have time to think.

After the struggle the man got into the victim's car and drove off.

Neighbors said they heard a commotion outside, and learned about the carjacking shortly after it happened.

"I happened to look out the window and I saw a lot of the neighbors standing in a group, so I walked out and said, 'What's going on?' They said somebody was accosted in their driveway, and I said, 'Are you kidding me?'" neighbor Elrita Nichols said.

Nichols lives two houses down from where the carjacking happened. She said crimes like this one are rare in her neighborhood.

"That's unusual here," Nichols said.

"[Nowadays], you got to be careful. Stay in your car, don't get out right away, survey your surroundings. I do that at grocery stores, and apparently I'm going to have to start doing at home, which is a shame," Nichols said.

The victim was not hurt during the carjacking, but her car is still missing. She told FOX5 that car is a grey Nissan Rogue with the license plate 733YVV. Police say if you see that car or know anything about the carjacking, you should call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
