Substantial damage sustained in overnight fire

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to a blaze at a strip mall Saturday night.

The incident occurred at 11:45 p.m. in the 900 block of south Valley View Boulevard, near Charleston Boulevard.

According to the department, heavy flames could be seen from the fire while crews worked to contain the blaze.

No injuries were reported, but the building collapsed as firefighters attacked the fire, the department said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the estimated damages exceed $1 million.

The department said Valley View Boulevard was e closed between Alta Drive and Charleston Boulevard for a few hours.
