Metro investigating robbery at Las Vegas apartment

Posted: Updated:

Las Vegas Metro police said they were investigating a robbery at a Las Vegas apartment Friday morning.

Police responded to the call just after 11 a.m. in the 1600 block of east Katie Avenue, near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway.

“There's plenty of break-ins over here, and it’s always on the first floor,” said Sauliman Hinton, a neighbor who lives in the complex.

Late Friday morning, police said a woman was tied up and three suspects got away. It’s unclear what the suspects stole or if the robbery was targeted but Hinton said his girlfriend saw a group of men casing apartments in the complex just a few short hours before the situation.

“My girl told me that someone had rang the doorbell a few  times and when she came to check, no one was on the front porch,” Hinton said.

Hinton said he confronted the guys when he came back later that morning.

“They were getting real defensive,” Hinton said.

Neighbors Mike Soto said he’s noticed a rise in robberies.

“It just got started,” Soto said. “It’s only been a month now that things are starting to happen around the apartments.”

Earlier this month, Soto's son was stabbed after confronting a man who was caught stealing stuff off their porch. They’ve been getting death threats ever since.

“We get ones that say still watching you,” Soto said.

As police investigate another robbery in the complex, neighbors are desperate for change.

“It’s just something that the apartments have to put someone else to work here on a regular basis.”
