LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police on Wednesday reported they have arrested a man in connection to an incident in which an infant was burned.

Police said that about 7:55 p.m. on Sept. 30, officers were called to a home in the 4600 block of Vegas Drive, near Decatur Boulevard, to investigate a report of suspicious injuries to a child.

Officers located a 1-year-old boy with serious burns to his hand and wrist.

The child, who required surgery, was taken to University Medical Center.

An investigation showed 23-year-old Amonte Taylor was watching the child while the child’s mother was away. Police said the burns were not consistent with an accident.

Taylor was taken into custody and booked into Clark County Detention Center. He faces a charge of child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm.

Anyone with additional information was urged to call Metro’s Abuse and Neglect Detail at 702-828-3364. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or leave information online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com
