LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A person who locked himself inside a home from police during a domestic violence call in the central Las Vegas Valley surrendered Monday.

According to Lt. David Gordon, of Las Vegas Metro police, officers were called about 4:30 a.m. to the 3100 block of Rosanna Street, near Desert Inn Road and Rainbow Boulevard.

Gordon said the man at the center of the barricade may have stabbed his friend, who suffered minor injuries, and assaulted his girlfriend. The extent of the female's injuries was not disclosed.

SWAT officers were called to the area to help negotiate the man's surrender. Police said the man was taken into custody just after 10 a.m.

Residents in the area were also given the option to evacuate during the police activity, according to Gordon.

Traffic on Rainbow was shut down in both directions between Desert Inn and Palmyra Avenue.
