Motorcyclist killed on I-15 near Russell identified

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Las Vegas man was identified as the motorcyclist who died in a crash that happened early Sunday morning on the Interstate 15 freeway.

According to the Clark County Coroner's Office, Julio Salazar, 43, died of multiple blunt force injuries as a result of an accident.

According to Trooper Jason Buratczuk, of Nevada Highway Patrol, troopers responded a crash between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on southbound I-15 near the Russell Road exit about 4 a.m.

Witnesses informed NHP a silver Lexus sedan was seen speeding on the highway before losing control, striking a motorcycle and then the wall.

The rider of the motorcycle was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 29-year-old driver of the Lexus suffered minor injuries and his passenger was sent to UMC with serious injuries.

Troopers said the man behind the wheel of the Lexus was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
