About 9:30 a.m., Kingman police were serving a search warrant at a home located in the 1700 block of Miami Avenue. The warrant concerned stolen property.

The video shows several officers approaching the home. When the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Jeffrey Clair Cave, came to the door, he was armed.

Police continuously shouted commands at Cave, instructing him to disarm, but he never complied. A few moments pass, and the video shows Cave raise his weapon and fire a shot. One officer was struck.

Police immediately returned fire, and Cave collapsed.

The Bullhead City Police Department identified the officer who was shot as Det. Dennis Gilbert, 57. He remains in the hospital in serious condition. He has been stabilized, however, and was said to be doing well.

Gilbert and Det. Nicholas Schmitz, 27, have been placed on routine paid administrative leave. Both fired on Cave.

Lt. James Brice, 58, had a bullet pass through his clothing. He was uninjured, however. Officers were wearing body armor during the incident.

Bullhead City police said officers were serving a warrant in connection to a stolen firearm. However, the gun Cave used to fire on officers was not stolen.
