NV boasts record high in jobs, erasing Recession losses

Posted: Updated:

Nevada is at the highest of highs when it comes to jobs.

New numbers released Friday boasts Nevada's employment level at an all-time high of 1,301,300 positions in August, besting the peak seen before the Great Recession in May 2007 of 1,297,600.

The statistics released by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation effectively showed the Silver State regained all 186,400 jobs it lost when the recession hit in the late 2000s.

According to DETR, Nevada bottomed out at 1,111,200 jobs in September 2010. In all, the state added 190,100 jobs since the recovery began.

In touting the news, Gov. Brian Sandoval, R-NV, who was elected in the midst of the recovery in 2010, credit the current record-high to some of Nevada's strongest attributes.

In August, Nevada's unemployment rate dropped to 6.3 percent, which still ranks as one of the highest in the country.
