Officer injured, suspect killed in Kingman, AZ shootout

KINGMAN, AZ (FOX5) -

A police officer in Kingman, AZ, was wounded Thursday in a gunfire exchange with an armed person.

According to Kingman Police Department, the incident took place in the 1700 block of Miami Avenue, which is located not too far from the U.S 93/Interstate 40 freeway. 

On Thursday afternoon, the Bullhead City Police Department, which is investigating the incident, reported the Kingman Police Department was executing a search warrant for stolen property at a home. 

An investigation indicates 53-year-old Jeffrey Clair Cave, of Kingman, fired a gun at officers, one of whom was struck. Officers returned fire, striking and killing Cave. 

The wounded officer was taken to a hospital. He underwent surgery and was last listed in serious condition. He has been stabilized, however.
