Domestic incident prompts 2 school lockdowns in NW Vegas

Two schools in the northwest Las Vegas Valley were placed on soft lockdowns Monday due to domestic incident involving a person with a knife.

Larry Hadfield, of Las Vegas Metro police, said a call of the incident came in at 10:09 a.m. on Conquistador Street, near Tropical Parkway and Grand Canyon Drive. 

Police said nearby Marshal Darnell Elementary School and Centennial High School were placed on the soft lockdowns as a precaution beginning at 11:10 a.m., according to Clark County School District.

Police did not immediately elaborate on the specifics of the case or the reasons that it necessitated the lockdowns.
