LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Nevada Highway Patrol reported a bicyclist who was struck by a taxi cab Thursday night was pronounced dead Friday at University Medical Center.

Troopers said about 11:42 p.m. Thursday, the taxi was being driven eastbound on Spring Mountain Road, approaching Mel Torme Way. The taxi had a green light and approached the intersection.

The man on the bicycle, troopers said, was traveling from the north side of Spring Mountain to the south, ignored the “no walk” signal and rode into the path of the taxi.

The bicyclist, identified as 49-year-old Vincent Foster, of Las Vegas, was ejected from the bicycle.

Troopers said the taxi driver remained at the crash scene and assisted in the investigation.

There were no passengers in the taxi, and the driver was not cited. This marked the 53rd traffic-related fatality in the NHP’s jurisdiction in 2016.
