LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police believe a person found wounded at an apartment complex near Nellis Air Force Base on Thursday attempted to rob someone before being shot.

Las Vegas Metro police said officers responded to multiple calls of a shooting at 3:29 a.m. in the 5300 block of East Craig Road, near the intersection with Las Vegas Boulevard. Security personnel at extended stay complex Nellis Suites informed police about hearing gunshots. In addition, two other people who were described as the injured person and the gunman in the case also called dispatchers.

According to police, a robbery victim informed officers that he was in the area to meet a woman whom he met online. When the robbery victim arrived at Nellis Suites - the meeting place, the woman and another man met with the person and tried to rob him. The victim, though, opened fire on the male robber.

The wounded person was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both the wounded robber and the woman involved in the holdup were booked on conspiracy to commit robbery counts. The robber, who was booked in absentia, was additionally booked on a count of robbery with a deadly weapon.

Police said the armed robbery victim is not expected to face charges.
