LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A 50-year-old man accused of killing a couple at an apartment complex near McCarran Airport on Tuesday lived with the victims for a month before the slayings.

Las Vegas Metro police said Frank Interlicchia was detained in front of an apartment in the 5000 block of Palo Verde Road, near Tropicana Avenue and Swenson Street. Calls to police indicated an agitated mane was involved in a disturbance.

Officers arrived to find a man outside of a first floor apartment covered in blood, according to Lt. Dan McGrath, of Metro's Homicide Section. Officers heard rustling in an apartment, leading them to enter and find the bodies of a man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s.

McGrath noted the person in custody was also covered in cuts, scabs and abrasions.

The victims appeared to have died from blunt force trauma.

Citing an investigation, police said Interlicchia had been living in the apartment with the victims for about a month. Before police were called, Interlicchia was believed to be involved in an argument with several people in the parking lot.

Interlicchia appeared to be agitated and later armed himself with a baseball bat after the argument, police said.

Interlicchia was booked into Clark County Detention Center on two counts of open murder and one count of home invasion.

The incident represented the 121st and 122nd homicides in Metro's jurisdiction this year. The Clark County Coroner's Office was assigned to identify the victims.
