Several vehicle break-ins in recent weeks have left a North Las Vegas community feeling vulnerable.

Neighbors said they have filed police reports but the break-ins have continued, with the most recent one happening this past weekend.

Neighbors told FOX5 they do not believe these are random thefts.

Residents of the Eldorado community, located near Ann Road and Simmons Street, have been investing thousands in security equipment. They feel like they’re being targeted, and even watched.

“People are coming through, popping our door handles, trying to see if there is access to our vehicles. [They’re] rummaging through and taking things out of cars throughout the neighborhood,” neighbor Jennifer Erbes said.

Just last weekend, one of Erbes’ neighbors captured thieves breaking into her vehicles on video. It wasn’t the first time.

“One of their vehicles was unlocked. Nothing was taken, but there was some rummaging,” Erbes said.

At least five break-ins have occurred in the last few months, Erbes said.

“[The scariest part is] not knowing who it is. Is it multiple people? Is it the same people? Are they tracking homes? Are they tracking our homes to see who is home and who is not?” Erbes asked.

Erbes said she and her neighbors filed police reports in June. She said that in most cases the vehicles were unlocked.

“I just feel like that shouldn’t be OK for somebody, a stranger, to walk to my car and go through my things because I leave my door unlocked,” Erbes said.

The neighbors are in the process of starting up a neighborhood watch. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
