LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Labor Day weekend was big business for some local businesses, and many workers spent the day on the job.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority estimated more than 300,000 visitors would come to Las Vegas over the holiday weekend.

Jonathan Vitt, owner of Chicken Shack, said his restaurant enjoyed a busy Labor Day and had a line all day.

"Just making fantastic chicken for everybody in Henderson who's not working today, laying by the pool," Vitt said.

Restaurants weren’t the only place keeping the doors open on Labor Day, as many selected to enjoy the nice weather outside.

Representatives at Cowabunga Bay said the water park had one of the busiest days of the season on Monday.

“Every holiday people come in and they're all happy. We get the friendliest customers and it's just so fun to work with everyone,” said Janel Fernandez, Cowabunga Bay employee.

The park had about 2,800 visitors on Labor Day, with more than 120 employees working the holiday according to Cowabunga Bay.  .

“I love letting these families have fun and being part of that experience,” said Fernandez.

Labor Day 2017 will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 4.
