A local man had a scary run-in with a wanted suspect out of North Las Vegas.

Alonso Perez, has been on the run from authorities since Friday and Scott Lewis, manager at Peterson Motel & Apartments, believes Perez lived at the community for two weeks under a false name.

"He said he had been doing some painting and he gave me some paint supplies and plastic and tape as a gift, he was very nice, we never had a cross word,” Lewis said.

However, the circumstances changed when Lewis said he didn’t let the man and his girlfriend inside his office, general rule for hostile people, when he saw the two arguing.

The Peterson Motel & Apartment manager shared surveillance footage with FOX5 showing the man, believed to be Perez, pulling out a gun in broad daylight and firing nine shots at the manager's office in late July.

"Just pop, pop, pop like what your general red fire cracker would sound like, is what it sounded like from in here,” Lewis said.

A police report was filed, according to Lewis, and FOX5 did find a case matching the description of Perez and an incident on July 25, but police have been unable to confirm.

Lewis said when he saw reports of a suspect escape police custody, he knew it was the same man who rented an apartment from him.

"Just blown away, it was amazing to me that the same guy on the news is the same one that opened shots at the office,” Lewis said.

The North Las Vegas Police Department has been searching for Perez since he escaped from handcuffs while he was left alone in an interview room regarding a deadly shooting in August.

Lewis believes Perez is the most dangerous person on the street, because of his experience, and hopes by telling his story Perez will be back behind bars.

"Right now he has no concern for life, obviously for anyone else or himself. Now knowing he actually killed a man at a local McDonald's and broke free from handcuffs, he's probably not going to go without a fight,” Lewis said.
