In a city where thousands of gallons of alcohol are consumed a year, it is appropriate to host a hops workshop targeting beginners looking to make a name for themselves in the industry.
"There's a lot of breweries and microbreweries opening around the state, especially in the Reno area," said Herds and Harvest Program Officer Jessica Anderson, who is helping to coordinate the workshop.
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Herds and Harvest program will host the hops workshop Hops: The Art of Fermentation for those interested in pursuing agricultural entrepreneurship, implement sustainable agricultural marketing strategies and improve profitability.
The workshop will focus on hops selection, growing specifications, budgets and brewing. Beginning farmers, ranchers and anyone interested in the art of brewing are encouraged to attend.
The workshop will be held on Sep. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 7830 S. Last Vegas Blvd. The cost is $35, which includes course materials, refreshments and lunch. Visit https://lasvegashopsworkshop.eventbrite.com to reserve your spot.
