LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Thieves targeted a southwest Valley home Sunday and made off with valuables including jewelry, electronics and purses.

They also took something the homeowner can’t replace.

“The thought of her not being where she belongs is just heartbreaking,” theft victim Megan Wilkes said.

Wilkes is referring to her mother, Barbara Mulholland.

Mulholland died on June 17. Since her cremation, Wilkes has kept her ashes in a rectangular cherry wood box.

“They probably went to open it and couldn’t so just grabbed it,” Wilkes said. “I’ve never felt more violated or angry or hurt. It’s like my mom dying all over again. I have the same emotions. Every time I turn around something else is missing and I’m heartbroken all over again.”

“To the people that have done this, if you’re watching, I’m offering a reward. You can leave it in a parking lot for all I care. I just want it back,” Wilkes continued.

Wilkes has lived in the home or 13 years and this was the first time she’s had a problem. She has installed a new security system and is thankful she and her child weren’t home when the theft occurred.

Anyone with information was urged to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
