Person of interest sought in Lake Mead homicide investigation

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police are seeking the public’s help identifying a person of interest in connection to a homicide investigation.

Police said the person of interest was last seen with the victim, identified as 61-year-old Kathleen Ploutz, on the night before she was found dead.

The person of interest was described as an adult male driving an unknown make or model sport utility vehicle. He was seen at Ploutz’s apartment at 499 Sierra Vista Drive at 9 p.m. on July 17.

Ploutz was discovered on July 18 at 8 a.m. near the Special Events at Beach Boulder Basin in Lake Mead.

Metro police confirmed Ploutz had injuries that indicated she was a homicide victim.

The motive of the homicide is unknown, police said. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident.
