About 4:46 p.m. Sunday, police were summoned to University Medical Center Trauma in response to a patient with life-threatening stab wounds. The victim, a man, succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

An investigation indicated the victim had been at a home located in the 200 block of Sir Phillip Street, near Stewart Avenue and North Christy Lane.

It’s believed the victim got into a verbal altercation and physical fight with another man. The victim was stabbed and taken to UMC by a friend.

This marked the 111th homicide investigated by Metro in 2016.
