LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man on the run for killing two people in front of an east Las Vegas Valley smoke shop last year was arrested in California.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, James Rachal, 32, was identified as the suspect who shot and killed Alton Bullard Jr., 32, and Aaron Anderson, 25, on Sept. 11, 2015.

Rachal was arrested in California on related charges but also booked on warrants related to the double homicide, police said. He was booked into Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday on a count of conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of murder with a deadly weapon.

Police said the shooting happened in the 5500 block of Boulder Highway, near East Tropicana Avenue.

Citing witnesses, police said three men were standing outside a smoke shop when a fourth man approached them. The four had a brief exchange, and the fourth man walked away. Minutes later, he returned and opened fire on the men, striking two of them.

Rachal is set to appear in court on Sept. 1.
