LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The death of a woman found Monday inside a burning home in the east Las Vegas Valley is being considered a homicide, police said Wednesday.

Las Vegas Metro police said a body was found inside the home in the 4100 block of East Boston Avenue, near Sahara and Lamb boulevards, at 4:05 a.m. Monday.

Clark County Fire department informed Metro detectives the circumstances of the fire were suspicious. Citing a coroner's report, police said the person found in the fire died of blunt force trauma and was already dead before the flames were ignited.

Medical examiners later identified the person as Carol Lopez, 54, of Las Vegas.

Police count the death as the 106th homicide in Metro's jurisdiction this year.

Police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
