HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

There’s no doubting the power of social media. Video posted to Facebook resulted in an arrest just a few hours later.

A Henderson family caught a man stealing expensive cleats from their home on surveillance video, and the man suspected of being the thief was in custody Monday afternoon.

The Henderson neighborhood has been dealing with a series of small crimes lately, everything from petty theft to vehicle vandalism.

Neighbors have grown so tired of it they formed a neighborhood watch and managed to catch the suspect by working together.

“At like 7:30, a gentleman walked right up in front of the house, walked right up the driveway, decided he liked the cleats, reached up, picked them up, looked at them, walked down the driveway and walked out,” homeowner David Gallegos said.

He picked the wrong house. Gallegos has an effective surveillance system and reliable neighbors.

“We’re tight. You know, we look out for one another,” he said.

As soon as Gallegos posted the video, his neighbors began hunting for the man responsible. They cracked the case in a few hours.

They managed to track the suspect down at his home and contacted Henderson police.

The neighbors hope the swift arrest will serve as a message to potential criminals.
