Driver arrested for impairment in fatal crash

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said one person was killed and another injured in a crash Saturday night.

The incident happened at 11:55 p.m. at Colton Avenue and Silver Bow Drive, near Lamb Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard.

According to police, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling east on Colton when it struck a parked semi-truck trailer that was full of rebar, or steel bars.

A 19-year-old male passenger, identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Juan Jimenez-Lopez, of the Tahoe was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, while the 20-year-old driver, was transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries according to police.

The driver, identified by police as Pedro Regalado-Cardenas, showed signs of impairment, and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center after his release from the hospital.

This was the 66th traffic related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction in 2016.

The collision remains under investigation according to authorities.
