Man surrenders following standoff with police, fire

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las  Vegas Metro police on Friday afternoon reported they were involved in a standoff with an armed person at an apartment complex located on Tropicana Avenue.

It’s believed the person was armed with knives.

Police were called to the complex, located in the 5400 block of West Tropicana Avenue, just west of South Decatur Boulevard, about 1:38 p.m.

Metro reported officers were in communication with the armed person, and SWAT officers and negotiators responded to the scene. 

Around 7 p.m., the barricaded man set a fire inside the apartment and then surrendered to police. There were no reports of injuries.
