LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The southbound lanes of U.S. 95 near Durango Drive were briefly shut down Thursday afternoon after a crash that ejected a passenger.

Trooper Jason Buratczuk, of Nevada Highway Patrol, said a Ford Explorer slammed into a concrete barrier about 2:30 p.m.

A backseat passenger was ejected in the single-vehicle crash while the driver was trapped following the collision. The ejected passenger sustained critical injuries, NHP said.

Two other passengers in the rear of the vehicle were also injured. All of the vehicle's occupants were taken to University Medical Center for treatment.

The freeway was momentarily shut down to allow one of the victims to be flown from the scene by medical helicopter. At least two of the lanes reopened by 3 p.m.
