LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police released images of three men and a female person of interest in connection to the killing of a liquor store worker during an attempted holdup Monday night.

The shooting took place at 9:44 p.m. at the Lee’s Discount Liquor store located on West Warm Springs Road, near South Durango Drive.

Citing an investigation, police said three black men entered the business and began to rob two workers near the front of the store at gunpoint. Another worker was forced to a rear office and ordered to open a safe. The worker was not able to access the safe and was shot, police said. The victim was taken to a University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police released images of the three armed men in the incident. They described them with the following:

  • The first suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20’s, approximately 6’0 tall and weighing 180 lbs. He was wearing a white zip-up hoodie over a gray hoodie with the gray hood pulled over his head, gray sweatpants and dark high top athletic shoes with a white design and was armed with a handgun.
  • The second suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20’s, approximately 6’0 tall and weighing 180 lbs. He was wearing a black hoodie with red “UNLV” letters, jeans and red shoes.
  • The third suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20’s, approximately 5’8 - 6’0 tall and weighing 240-260 lbs. He was wearing a greenish colored hoodie and was armed with a handgun.

Police also said a woman was seen at the store during the incident. Described as a person of interest, the woman was described as black, 5'6" and about 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing an aqua-colored tank top and black pants.

During a vigil Tuesday night, friends and family identified the victim to FOX5 as 24-year-old Matt Christensen.

They said he was originally from Phoenix but moved to Las Vegas with his girlfriend a few years ago.

Those gathered at the vigil described Christensen as an amazing person who was always helping people out.

“We had plans for making a trip on his birthday. That’s not gonna happen now. His mother told me to make sure he’s taken care of, and I feel like I failed his family,” said Yvette Rioux, Christensen’s girlfriend.

“[I’m] just really sad, hurt, mad, confused. It doesn’t make any sense. There was no reason to have to shoot my brother. They could have taken what they got and left and saved this pain and grief,” said Reggie Christensen, Matt Christensen’s brother.

Police urged anyone with information on the robbers to contact Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
