LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A performer in Cirque Du Soleil's production of Zarkana was hospitalized and later released after slipping and falling on stage Tuesday night, an official confirmed.

Ann Paladie, director of public relations for Cirque, confirmed the incident during the 9:30 p.m. presentation of the show housed inside the Aria hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The show was stopped briefly to tend to the artist but it soon resumed, Paladie said. The artist was transported to University Medical Center as part of Cirque's standard safety protocol.

On Wednesday morning, Cirque said the artist has since been released from treatment.

The incident marked the second on-stage incident involving a Cirque performer this week. On Monday, an artist fell during a production of The Beatles LOVE inside the Mirage hotel-casino. That person was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Zarkana is slated to close production at the Aria on April 30.
