LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A vehicle believed to be tied to a bank robbery crashed on the 215 Beltway near Durango Drive, prompting lane closures.

Las Vegas Metro police confirmed the crash Tuesday afternoon on the eastbound beltway between Durango and Buffalo Drive.

Officer Laura Meltzer, of Metro, said an air unit followed a vehicle stemming from a reported holdup at the U.S. Bank located in the 3600 block of East Russell Road. The vehicle was seen speeding before the crash.

Nevada Highway Patrol confirmed the closure on the 215 Beltway at West Sunset Road. The beltway was reopened to traffic at Durango by 3:15 p.m., though, vehicles were moving at a slow pace. By 4 p.m., traffic had returned to normal.

Police said one man was taken into custody following the crash. He was treated for minor injuries at University Medical Center and will be facing charges. Officers believe he was likely the getaway driver.
